About the Institute

The Royal University of Bhutan (RUB), founded in 2003, is the primary university system in Bhutan. The university was established to consolidate the management of tertiary education in Bhutan. The university is guided by the vision of ‘An internationally recognized university steeped in Gross National Happiness values’, and with a primary mission ‘To provide programmes of study at tertiary education level, of relevance and good quality which will fulfill the needs of the country for an educated, skilled and humane population; To promote and conduct research to contribute to the creation of knowledge of relevance to Bhutan, and; To provide training and professional services for enhancement of knowledge, capacity building and community development.’RUB is a decentralized university with nine constituent colleges and two-affiliated colleges spread across the kingdom. As of 2016, the total number of students is 9,173, and total number of staff is 982.

 Role in the Project

This project will be targeted towards all the constituent colleges of the Royal University of Bhutan (RUB). Paro College of Education (PCE), one of the constituent colleges of RUB, will spearhead the project as the coordinator. PCE in collaboration with Samtse College of Education will take full responsibility to ensure that the project is implemented in accordance with the agreement. It will represent and act on behalf of the project partners towards the European Commission, and bear the financial and legal responsibility for the proper operational. Administrative and financial implementation of the project, and coordination of the project in cooperation with project partners, will be looked after by PCE.  PCE  will be responsible for monitoring the project progress, assessing the counselling centres, and dissemination and exploitation of the project processes and outcomes.
